September 13th. Ken and I waited for Wust el Balad’s arrival at Chicago’s O’Hare airport. They were scheduled to arrive at 6:30 p.m. We waited and waited… It was almost 9 p.m. Where were they?

Almost one week has past since the biggest earthquake, the 40’ tsunami and the nuclear disaster horrified not only people in Japan, but throughout the world. Agatsuma Ensemble, leaving their families and friends at home, arrived in Des Moines as scheduled while the country still tremors.

Agatsuma and his ensemble arrived in Chicago on Monday, April 5th. After an 11-hour long flight and a 14-hour time difference, it was not easy to adjust. Having a full day of rest on Tuesday helped to make the adjustments and prepare the group for their first concert of the tour on Wednesday.

Please join us in welcoming Beauty & Melody to the U.S. for their first Midwest tour!

The band traveled over 11,000 miles on Wednesday from Chengdu, China to Chicago, Illinois. Tour manager Shigeyo Henriquez wrote on Wednesday evening, “The plane landed early, but it took over an hour to go through immigration and customs. They are tired after traveling almost 24 hours from Chengdu, but they are safe and happy.”
